Only the speedy actions of two brave police officers saved this man's life after he stumbled and fell in front of a speeding train.

CCTV footage shows the unidentified man just seconds away from certain death after he fell off a train platform.

Local police in Phoenix, Arizona, where the incident took place say the man had been drinking.

The officers leapt off the platform into the oncoming train's path to pull the man to safety.

One of the officers Terrell Granberry said "We pretty much sprinted over to the guy, made sure that the train driver saw us, jumped on to the track and pulled the guy off the track before the train got to where he was.

"This individual was so intoxicated that if we weren't there, there was no way he was getting up by himself."

The man escaped major injury and walked away with nothing but a few bumps and scratches.
